This study examines how the phonetic structure of pseudowords influences their association with visual shapes within the Bouba–Kiki effect. It focuses on the roles of vowels and consonants in shaping these associations and tests whether, in conflict situations, consonantal or vocalic features have a stronger influence.

This task presents a basic Sound Induced Flash Illusion (SIFI) task. Participants are first asked to judge the number of auditory beeps that they hear (1 or 2) they are then asked to judge the number of visual flashes they see (1 or 2). Flashes are acompanied either by a congruent or incongruent number of auditory beeps or no beeps.
